San Antonio is a great place to visit with something for everyone. Having visited San Antonio several times, this trip my husband and I decided to get outside of downtown a little bit and explore some other great parts of San Antonio besides just the Riverwalk and Alamo. However, no trip to San Antonio feels complete without at least meandering the Riverwalk and saluting the Alamo. With so many options for getting around (electric scooters, electric bikes, and mopeds), we only hired a car a few times.

1. THE ALAMO -  Like I said, no trip to San Antonio is complete without a trip to the Alamo, but it is also the kind of thing that once been there and done the tour, you are good to go for the next 10 years. The Alamo can get busy so plan ahead. Entrance to the Alamo Church and grounds is free and the tours are not terribly expensive ($7 audio tour), so don't forget the Alamo!
For more information visit thealamo.org.

2. THE RIVERWALK BOAT TOUR - This is another first-timer, must-do activity. There several boat pick-up/drop-off locations along the Riverwalk, so don't worry, you are going to make it on a boat! If you'd like to book tickets in advance and locate the different pick-up/drop-off locations go to goriocruises.com  Tickets prices are $13.50, $7.50 (ages 1-5), $10.50 (senior 65+) and the tour is about 35 minutes.

3. HOTELS - We have always stayed at a hotel on the Riverwalk and highly recommend it. You can get by without renting a car if you are okay with a little bit of walking or using electric scooters, bikes, etc. The San Antonio River winds through downtown creating a lot of riverfront property for hotels, shops and restaurants. Our last trip we stayed at the Home2Suites/Hampton Inn by Hilton, San Antonio Riverwalk and highly recommend it! The hotel has a fun Texas vibe along with all the standard accommodation you expect from Hilton. We especially loved that the pool overlooked the riverwalk!
